Queensland Youth Shakespeare Festival Finals 2014

Queensland Youth Shakespeare Festival Finals 2014

| On 10, Oct 2014

Oh Shake Fest, Shake Fest! Wherefore art thou Shake Fest? Why, at the Brisbane Powerhouse of course! Shake & Stir Theatre Co presents the Queensland Youth Shakespeare Festival Finals 2014.

Shake & Stir is one of Australia’s most prominent contemporary youth theatre companies, focusing on the creation of new work. They compose an annual season of in-school and MainStage productions for primary and secondary students, and often win prestigious awards for these productions.

Shake Fest offers the exciting chance for students all across Queensland to involve themselves in, and celebrate, the works of William Shakespeare. This is the perfect opportunity for Queensland’s secondary school students, who have a passion for Shakespeare and theatre, to share this interest and ambition with other like-minded people.

The festival combines several art forms across multiple competitive categories, including monologue, duologue, scene, dance, music, design, photography and film. This provides students with a unique opportunity to flaunt their talents while further learning and developing their skills.

State Finalists will take to the Powerhouse Theatre stage to compete for a spot in the Top 30, and the chance to be involved in a fully realised Shakespearean Production at Brisbane Powerhouse.

Last year’s Shake Fest attracted over 5,500 competitors across the Sunshine State, so don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity. Whether you wish to be on the stage or in the audience, this above all: to thine own self be true, and buy a ticket!
