Review: Sol Natural Foods

Review: Sol Natural Foods

| On 01, Nov 2014

For the lovers of Sol Breads Cafes in West End and Toowong, and their baked bread and goodies from markets sold all over town, get excited for the new Sol Natural Foods restaurant and pizzeria in Fortitude Valley.

As suppliers and procurers of locally sourced ingredients (and organic ingredients where possible) Sol provides delicious, healthy and tummy-happy meals and beverages.

With breakfasts, smoothies, coffee, salads, pies, focaccias, pizza, cookies, desserts, bread, chia puddings and raw treats Sol Natural Foods have you covered for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The main added bonus of this new Valley location is the pizzeria and the addition of a long list of local and organic beers and wines.

With locally made Sugo pizza bases, available in gluten-free, and vegan Notzeralla cheese absolutely anyone can enjoy their pizza. As a dairy-free eater I can say this soy cheese is actually cheesey, holds the toppings together well and honestly tastes great- hard to believe, but definitely true.

With trivia nights on Thursday, and $10 pizza deals from Wednesday to Friday nights, this is a great dinner destination. If you are planning on heading in with some friends here are some of our favourite dinner menu items.

House dips with warmed pumpkin sourdough ($9.50), rocket, parmesan, mint and almond salad ($8), chick lover pizza- free-range chicken, olives, sun-dried tomato, Spanish onion and brie ($15), No.8 pizza- pepperoni, olives, capsicum and mozzarella ($15). The servings for all these meals are generous, and the simple pizza ingredients make for great flavour combinations.

If you feel like hanging around for dessert why not try the YOLO dessert pizza with Nutella, hazelnuts and banana, or try a gluten free brownie. Wash it all done with an organic Cab Sav, or try a Kombucha- a fermented, flavoured, cold tea that will keep your stomach happy.

The unprocessed, non-preservative food tastes great, is kinder on your belly and doesn’t cost the earth. Combining this with the great service and Sol Natural Foods has become one of our favourite dinner spots.
