Say hello to the Boudoir Bazaar Fashion Markets

Say hello to the Boudoir Bazaar Fashion Markets

| On 06, Jul 2016

Step into every broke girl’s fantasy with the Boudoir Bazar Fashion Markets, where there’s no shortage of second hand Zimmerman silks or Mimico accessories. This market is one of many adding much-needed colour and luxury to the Brisbane fashion scene.

The bigger Aussie cities have had a habit of overshadowing the small but mighty Brisbane fashion scene. However, with the introduction of Boudoir Bazaar, it looks like this might change.

After moving from Melbourne, founder, Emma Neville, felt that Brisbane was lagging behind when it came to second-hand designer markets.

“I thought why not start my own market. When I was in Melbourne I used to shop and sell at a lot of markets like this…so I gave it a go.”

Beginning in 2014, the markets have grown in size. They cater to luxury lovers who are looking to upgrade their wardrobe from shabby to chic. Emma describes the events growth as “slow and steady, but strong.”

The fashion connoisseur says she owes her success to the high standard of clothing at the markets.

“I have stipulated that the clothes have to be of high quality…so that hasn’t slipped”

Tamarin Whittaker is one of the many fascinating stall holders who sells at the markets. Through her business Lady M Grand, the fashion stylist has been selling new and designer vintage wears for two years but only recently joined the sellers at Boudoir Bazaar. As a stylist, she has exclusive access to coveted labels such Chloe and Camilla and Marc.

Each season Tamarin does an audit of her client’s wardrobes and sells pieces they no longer need.

“I go to their house and we go through their whole wardrobe and we take things out which we decide to keep, sell or donate.”

While there are a lot of great designer labels, there is much more on offer. The markets stock a range of handmade jewellery and one-off vintage pieces. Like every pre-loved clothing sale, there are always going to be those off finds.
