SSAFF Festival Program Available to Rent

| On 29, Jun 2020

Looking for something great to watch? Check out SSAFF On Demand, the best place to watch outstanding South African cinema.

Like a lot of events this year, the Sydney South African Film Festival (or SSAFF) went online. Now, after the successful run of their virtual festival, they’ve selected some of their finest films to make available for rent.

SSAFF On Demand is a selection of 16 films from the 2019 and 2020 SSAFF Festival program. For only $8 for one film and only $60 for access to the complete library, you can experience thought provoking cinema about socioeconomic disadvantages and important cultural issues. The selected films show South Africa’s diverse population, rich tradition of struggle for democracy and equality, and complex political and economic reality. The films will be available to rent from the 3rd of July until the 12th of July.

$8 isn’t bad for award-winning and poignant features and documentaries. And, if that wasn’t good enough, all ticket proceeds go to Education without Borders, an organisation that gives educational opportunities to disadvantaged children. So, not only can you enjoy excellent cinema, but you can also help support young South Africans in some of the country’s most underprivileged communities.

SSAFF prides itself on showcasing South Africa’s most exciting and challenging cinema. For example, you can rent Livana, a mix of oral storytelling and innovative animation about Swazi AIDS orphans. You can also rent Beyond Moving, a Billy Elliot-esque documentary that follows Siphe November’s journey from townships to Canada’s National Ballet School.

SSAFF On Demand brings exceptional South African films into your living room. Just by browsing the best of SSAFF through SSAFF On Demand, you’re appreciating the challenges and triumphs of South Africa. Remember to rent a film so you can help make a difference.
