Stomping Ground at the Powerhouse
Saskia Starck | On 30, Dec 2013
2014 brings with it the 16th year of Zen Zen Zo’s intensive physical training program, Stomping Ground.
Earlier in the year we spoke with one of the founders of the company, Lynne Bradley.
According to Lynne, “Zen Zen Zo believes in a theatre of contact, in which the relationship between the actors and the audience is at once intimate and shocking, compelling and confrontational, ritualistic and profane.â€
Stomping Ground will continue to promote this message by training young actors through different physical theatre methods.
These include Zen Zen Zo’s speciality areas of the Suzuki Method, Butoh, and the Viewpoints, as well as Bachir’s Andante Method.
It is exciting to note that Younes Bachir, ex collaborator of legendary Spanish theatre company La Fura dels Baus, will be teaching at the workshop.
For those interested in the workshop expect an intense training course that is both physically rigorous and mentally challenging.
“Participants should be in good health and prepared to work hard. However, no previous physical theatre experience is necessary. Due to the demanding nature of this course, all participants must be at least 18 years of age, or have finished Year 12.†(Zen Zen Zo)
