The Melbourne Underground Film Festival has been a great source ofÂ independent and guerrilla cinema from local and international filmmakersÂ since the year 2000. The festival continues to be a wonderful tool for pushing boundaries cinematically as well as helping independent filmmakers progress their works into the mainstream.
Following an unusual film short of a woman falling in love with a sex toy and then using it as a murder weapon, The Suicide Theory premiered for a small audience last Thursday week at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival.
For the past 15 years the Melbourne Underground Film Festival has run parallel to the government funded MIFF, screening their fill of local independent film talent. We had a chat with director and founder Richard Wolstencroft to see whatâ€™s on in this yearâ€™s festival.
