The best summer cocktails on a budget!

| On 03, Dec 2013

Summer is all about the beach, music, and fun… and what is more fun than cocktails!

Creative Drinks have picked their favourite delish drinks, that don’t cost you an arm and a leg.

1. MOSCOW MULE
A drink with a kick!

Ingredients
• 1/2 lime
• Crushed ice
• 60ml Vodka
• 120ml Ginger Beer

How to make
Squeeze lime into a glass. Fill the glass with ice and add vodka, top with ginger beer. For a bit of style, slice a piece of lime and hang over the edge of the glass.

Warning: You may have to teach someone else how to mix them, because you after a few you will be unable to tell your lime from your lemon.

2. MOJITOS
Fresh, flirty and fantastic!

Ingredients
•
Mint
• Teaspoon of caster sugar
• 1/2 lime
•
Crushed ice
•
500ml vodka
•
750ml soda water

How to make
Place mint and sugar into a glass jug. Using the end of a rolling pin, crush mint and sugar together. Squeeze and add
the lime juice. Add the ice, vodka and soda water and stir. Pour into glasses…and drink up!

3. SANGRIA
Get ready to tango the night away…arriba!

Ingredients
• 4 oranges
•
2 limes
•
500g strawberries
• Three cups of seedless grapes
•
1/4 cup brandy
•
750ml bottle red wine (tip: pick a sweeter red, and make sure it is not too bitter)
•
1/4 cup caster sugar
• Bottled soft drink (lemonade or ginger ale will work but my personal trick is using peach iced tea!)
• Crushed ice

How to make
Slice up all of the fruit (using only two of the oranges), and place in a jug. Combine with wine, sugar, 1½ cup of soft drink (you can always add more later), the juice from the remaining oranges, and brandy. Add crushed ice, and you are good to go!

4. STRAWBERRY CHAMPERS
You can never go wrong with this sweet indulgence!

Ingredients
• 1 x 200ml bottle Angostura bitters
•
500g strawberries
• 6 x 750ml bottles champagne, chilled

How to make
Slice the strawberries into quarters and drop into the bottom of a champagne flute. Fill the glass with an inch of the bitters, and top up with champagne!

5. WATERMELON MAI TAI
Be whisked off to an island getaway with this tropical treat!

Ingredients
• 500g watermelon
•
1/2 cup Golden Circle pineapple juice
•
1/2 cup white rum
•
1/4 cup triple sec liqueur
• 1 teaspoon grenadine
•
Crushed ice

How to make
While this may be a little on the pricier side, it could not be more simple to make. Cut the watermelon into bite sized pieces. Place the watermelon, pineapple juice, rum, liqueur and grenadine in the jug of a blender and blend until smooth.
Pour over watermelon mixture over ice to serve.
