The Brazilian BBQ feast that is Mundo Churrasco

The Brazilian BBQ that is Mundo Churrasco is an absolute must try dining experience.

I am going to go out on a limb and say this has been my overall favourite dining experience to date.

Top-notch food, service, and ambience all combined to leave me with no criticism of the evening.

Having never tried Brazilian BBQ before and offering a set menu, I was a bit apprehensive upon entering however any doubts were put to rest quickly and spectacularly.

The set menu combines a series of side dishes such as the delicious Pao de Queijo (gluten free cheese bread), farofa (a toasted flour mixture to season meat), and a selection of salads.

The set price also includes an unlimited selection of different cuts of meat grilled on a “churrasqueira” or barbecue.

My Favourites:

Barriga de Porco: Pork Belly with pawpaw sauce
Linguica: Spicy pork chorizo sausage
Sobrecoxa de frango: Chicken Thigh marinated with Peri Peri and yoghurt

I even tried the Coração de Galinha, which is marinated chicken hearts!

The serving system is unique in itself with the use of red (stop) and green (more) blocks. The side facing up indicates your meal status to the kitchen, and lets them know if you are wanting to continue being served the meats.

The blocks have a sentiment behind them, a result of a relationship between Mundo Churrasco and the Wesley Mission Brisbane.

Made by the workshop staff with supplied material, the MailPaq centre prepares, paints and stamps the blocks. These are available for sale for $2, with the proceeds going to the Mission.

Almost as good as the meal itself was the signature cocktail drink, Caipirinha, which is available in a variety of flavors (hint – try the lime & cherry).

I admit defeat and embarrassment when I say that I didn’t try the dessert. Having stuffed myself to the point of sickness during the meal, I couldn’t force myself to do it but I am sure it would have been as equally impressive as the rest of the meal.

This place is everything I look for in a restaurant – it combines excellent food with great experience.

Obrigado Mundo Churrasco – I will definitely be back for more!
