The Church Set To Release 25th Studio Album

| On 25, Sep 2014

Iconic Australian alternative/psychedelic rockers The Church will be touring in support of their new album Further/Deeper from October to December this year.

The Brisbane leg of their tour will be on Saturday November 1 at The Old Museum in Bowen Hills.

Their tour will consist of eight shows including three music festival performances.

Riding on a successful career which has lasted over thirty years, The Church’s new release marks a new musical direction for the band while still holding true to their signature psychedelic sound that their fans have come to love.

Not only have they had a very long career, but their releases have consistently received positive reviews.

According to, The Church sit at the number two spot (right behind the tied The Rolling Stones and The Fall) on the list of most critically acclaimed bands in the world, with over 15 of their albums being ranked with 4 or more stars out of 5.

Due to the unavailability of long-time member Marty Wilson-Piper, another well-known Australian musical personality has joined the band’s ranks, this being former Powderfinger member Ian Huag.

According to The Church’s frontman Steve Kilbey, Huag’s addition is like a “blood transfusion that has brought us back to life.”

As well as the release of new music, Kilbey has also created a series of paintings which tie in to Further/Deeper’s lyrical themes.

These paintings will be available for purchase at the band’s merchandise store along with the new album.

Since their first show in Sydney in 1980, The Church have always been at the forefront of musical innovation and their Further/Deeper tour will show that they will be capable of amazing their audience and listeners for years to come.
