Looking for a little bit of quiet sophistication combined with good food? Head to the Corner Store Cafe.
With trendy staff who are breaking the drab image of plain black work clothes, you instantly feel a sense of relaxation and contemporary chic upon entering.
A revamped 1940’s cottage, the use of white tiles and simple furniture is accentuated by the cheerful open patio area, which overlooks the organic herb and vegetable garden from which the kitchen source many of their fresh ingredients.
Having arrived for lunch, I was disappointed to miss out on trying the number of amazing breakfast options – I will have to save this for another visit.
The seasonal menu, while offering only a select number of items, proved to be varied and interesting.
Slow cooked beef ribs $22.50 with cauliflower puree and peppercorn gravy.
Crispy skin salmon $22.50 with kipfler potato salad, chorizo, olive and macadamia tapenade.
If you are as big of an eater as I am, make sure you order a side dish (the broccolini was delicious!) as the meals aren’t extraordinarily large.
My only gripe is a little one regarding service.
We did had a waitress prematurely clearing our table in what seemed to be a hurry up tactic. Given the numerous people still finishing meals, this was a bit disappointing and unnecessary.
However, that one little con did not outweigh the many pro elements of the experience! I will be going back as I am dying to try the Cajun spiced potato served with sour cream & chilli aioli, bacon and poached eggs…my mouth is watering already!
