The Easter weekend lineup

The Easter weekend lineup
Danie Bann

No foodie plans for Easter? We’ve got you covered.

Rejoice! The Easter long weekend is finally here- time to enjoy the autumn days and eat our body weight in chocolate.

Whatever you have in mind, here’s a roundup of the best flavours Brisbane has to offer this Easter.

For the Hot Cross Bun Enthusiast

Hot Cross Buns at Belle Époque

For me, Easter means one thing, Hot Cross Buns. Those buttery, cinnamon buns of sultana delight. While a pack from the supermarket is perfectly acceptable, why not go gourmet this Easter with the best that Brisbane has to offer.

Speaking of the best, Executive Sous Chef Alexandra Liddle of the Belle Époque patisserie at the Emporium Hotel South Bank has created two Easter delights for us to sample. They feature candied ginger, cranberry and Emporium tea-soaked sultanas, whilst the ‘not-cross bun’ is flavoured with delicious Valrhona chocolate, candied orange and praline, both available until 23rd April. If you can’t reach me, you’ll know where I’ll be.

Ps- Calling all our friends with dietary requirements, no need for you to miss out this Easter as nodo, Newstead has got you covered with their hand rolled, gluten free and refined sugar free hot cross buns. You can thank me later.

To kick off the Easter celebrations in style, try The Boom Boom Room, an opulent basement bar located underground in the remnants of the Queensland Government savings bank. And if that’s not enough, get ready to travel back in time to the 1920s and party like the speakeasies of Prohibition in Blackbird. Inspired by the opulence of The Great Gatsby, Blackbird offers 180 degree river views and an exclusive range of beers and spirits.

The Easter weekend is a great time to spend with family and as anyone knows, kids go hopping mad for Easter. Grab a basket, get exploring and discover chocolaty treats at every turn.

Head to the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre website for more information on walk ins and booking sessions. And if some of the chocolate mysteriously disappears when the kiddies heads are turned, well I won’t tell if you don’t.

For the Big Kids

Cocktails at the Osbourne Hotel

Psst, I’ll let you in on a secret, I’m under good authority that the Easter Bunny doesn’t just bring chocolate, he brings cocktails too.

Head down to the Osbourne Hotel, Fortitude Valley for some delicious chocolaty drinks that are strictly adults only.

Thanks to a collaboration with Mozart liqueur, you’ll have trouble choosing between the four sugary flavours celebrating all things Easter. These include the Mozart Strawberry Frappe, Strawberry Fizz, Salty Chocolate and Espresso, something for all you milkshake, chocolate and caffeine lovers alike.

Cocktails not your thing? Try the White Rabbit Chocolate Stout for a smooth and silky hit of brandy and Pana Chocolate. Drinks specials are available from Saturday 13th April to Saturday 20th April, so make sure you get down to the Osbourne Hotel for one, or two or three, before they’re gone.

The details:
