The Hot Spots of Hawthorne Road

Whilst Hawthorne might seem light-years away to those on the north side, to the south siders it’s as central as you can get. Here’s my pick for some of the best places to eat at Hawthorne Road.
Bungalow 4171 is the cool cat of Hawthorne Road with a 50’s themed interior and all day breakfast providing a great start to every day. My pick is the smoked cheddar, fresh tomato and spinach omelette with toast. Aaaaand a side of bacon. No breakfast is complete without bacon.
For a fresher option, their smashed avocado on toast with red onion and capers is fail safe. To further sweeten the deal, each Genovese coffee made at Bungalow is served with a kiss of Hershey’s chocolate. Mmm, chocolate.
If, like me, you enjoy a treat with your coffee, then continue down the road to Hawthorne Garage, which serves a gorgeous little gingerbread man with their custom blend DNA coffee. With a focus on organic, fresh food, Hawthorne Garage offers a range of freshly made meals such as muesli cups, panini, wraps, salads, rice paper rolls and more. With all these healthy, gourmet options at your fingertips, every morning can be a happy one.
My final pick for Hawthorne Road (whilst technically on Wynnum Road) is Chiangrai Thai at the top of the hill. Sure, eating organic, locally sourced food is always a boost to our health nut ego, but sometimes we just need a dinner of spring rolls, dim sims and a bowl of Pad Thai to wash it all down with. Chiangrai Thai offers just that. They’re my go-to for Thai takeaway. And if you’re feeling really chubby, they do delivery!
So come join me on Hawthorne Road-you’re sure to find something you like.
