The Tivoli Welcomes New Performance Space What's Golden
Iconic Brisbane venue The Tivoli will unveil a brand-new performance space within its foyer at the end of next month.
What’s Golden (at The Tivoli Theatre) marks a new chapter for the much-loved venue which has hosted world-class acts ranging from Bob Dylan to Taylor Swift over the past 30 years.
Making the most of the space within the beautiful 102-year-old art deco building, What’s Golden offers a reimagining of The Tivoli’s foyer space under the direction of designers Aaron Barton and Sarah Winter. The second stage, complete with its own audio and lighting set-up, accommodates a standing audience of 250 in a unique intimate performance space adjacent to The Tivoli’s main stage.
What’s Golden is set to expand The Tivoli’s reputation for housing incredible talent and supporting live music in Brisbane. The Tivoli co-owner and Creative Director David Sleswick welcomes the new space and acknowledges its exciting contribution to the venue, “What’s Golden not only builds upon this incredible legacy, but also delivers a much-needed, niche venue for up-and-coming and underground talent.”
There are a few more exciting changes taking place at The Tivoli, but don’t worry — it’s definitely going to retain its famous old-world charm. In addition to What’s Golden, the box office has undergone a renovation and The Tivoli is offering a new cocktail menu, craft beer bar and a daytime nook for coffees and Bloody Marys.
What’s Golden officially opens its doors on August 27, and there’s an exciting program in store. CLEA, Sahara Beck, Good Boy, HONCHO DISKO and Betty Grumble will be among the first acts to grace the stage of this exciting addition to Brisbane’s performing arts and live music scenes.
