The Twig & Berry

Nestled underneath the streets of Newstead lies the quiet underground bar, Twig & Berry.
The Twig & Berry opened quite recently; during May this year. Once known as the Union Office, this bar brings t a fun and exciting new waterhole to Newstead.
Located in a basement, getting to Twig and Berry can be quite tricky but once you find it, you will find a whimsical wonderland complete with an open-aired courtyard and fairy-light tree.
There is also a spacious cellar lounge filled with beautiful mahogan quilted lounges and atmospheric wall paper. However perhaps the best part of the decor is the ceiling which sets this bar apart. Suspended in the air are vintage timber doors which add a unique and creative touch to the bar.
There drinks menu is a 8 paged list filled with creative cocktails, designed by the bar manager and staff and served to perfection. There is also a group serve menu that offers Sangria and a ‘Bloody Mary Pitcher’. Don’t be put off by the prices of the cocktails, as they certainly pack a punch.
One of the most popular Twig and Berry cocktail comes in bottle form. The Bottled Zombie is a Tiki inspired drink and is “very boozing” ensuring that you will be a zombie the next day.
Unfortunately, Twig & Berry closes their doors at midnight but it is still early days. A major plus is that the bar does not get as crowded as some of the neighbouring suburbs. Be sure to check out Newsteads’ new haunt before it becomes a popular destination which I’m sure it will be.
