The Vagina Monologues
Saskia Starck | On 26, Mar 2014
The Judith Wright Centre will play host to the well-known dramatic works of The Vagina Monologues.
The play is described as an episodic play that was inspired by interviews with over 200 women worldwide.
The Vagina Monologues was written by Eve Ensler and was first staged in 1996 at the Off Broadway Westside Theatre.
Since its humble beginnings the play has now been staged countless times, on international platforms and was even produced into a television feature on HBO.
The production is made up of numerous monologues read by a varying number of women.
The monologues deal with all aspects of the feminine experience. Ranging from sex, love, rape, menstruation, masturbation, birth or simply the various names for the vagina.
After a sell-out season on the Sunshine Coast in 2013, Wild Women Productions are bringing this riveting hit to Brisbane audiences.
The Vagina Monologues is a celebration of women’s sexuality, strength and humour, along with taking a stand to all violence against women and children.
“Spellbinding, funny and at times incredibly moving†(Judith Wright Centre).
