Top five musicals of 2013

It has been a big year for the theatre industry with numerous new musicals gracing the Broadway and West End stages.
The recent Tony Awards gave a clear indication of the top musicals of 2013.
Kinky Boots took out numerous awards, most notably award for Best Musical of 2013.
However, it faced strong competition.
With the revitalized Cinderella, a new take on the classic Roald Dahl Matilda, an aerobatic Bring It On and finally the beautiful story of A Christmas Story.Â
Each musical brought with it a different genre of entertainment and the videos below clearly show how spectacular the stage truly can be.
- Kinky Boots
This musical, based on the original Kinky Boots movie, explores the unlikely relationship between Charlie, a struggling British shoe factory owner and Lola, a drag queen. Together they produce custom fetish-type footwear for drag.
2.Â Matilda The Musical
Based on the beloved childrenâ€™s novel. Matilda explores the life of a five-year-old girl who overcomes the obstacles by her family and school while also helping her encouraging teacher.
3.Â Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella
As evidenced by the title this musical is based on the story of Cinderella; a young girl forced into servitude by her stepfamily until one magical evening when everything changes.
4. Bring It On: The Musical
Loosely based on the 2000 movie Bring It On. This musical focuses on the competitive world of cheerleading and the outrageous team rivalries.
5. A Christmas Story, The Musical
The plot centres on a child named Ralphie who desperately wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas. The show is based on the original movie A Christmas Story.
The musical season is definitely a favourite.
The sheer talent of these actors to sing, dance and act all live on stage is truly an inspiration.
