VIBE: Brisbane's newest rock and metal venue

VIBE: Brisbane’s newest rock and metal venue

| On 07, Jan 2014

Brisbane metal heads, listen up. VIBE is about to rip you a new one, in the best possible way.

Your rock and metal prayers have been answered.

VIBE, the newest venue catering directly to those with a love of all things hot and heavy, opens its doors on the 10th January.

Created by MMK Music Productions powerhouse, Karen Andrews, VIBE is a platform that has been designed to give Brisbane bands a chance to get their music out there.

Andrews came into the business through many mediums. Ten years ago her son, Jay Macabre, drummer for metal band Darkc3ll, needed a manager and Andrews stepped up to the challenge.

With a keen understanding of the need for more opportunities for metal and rock bands, Andrews found her calling in managing venues. Originally from Townsville, she ran a club in Cairns from 2007 to 2008 for metal and rock bands.

Moving to Brisbane and setting up shop on the Northside, Andrews continued her work at the Prince of Wales Hotel for a year, running 79 events last year.

Deciding that there was a greater need for exposure, MMK Music Productions have now found a new home in VIBE at the Indooroopilly Hotel on Station Rd.

“That’s my specialty. My passion lies with that style of music. I have run other genres of music and still will, but the rock and metal scene has always been the underdog.” Andrews says.

Currently, VIBE will be running two shows a month with one rock band and one metal band. At this stage, gigs have already been booked through until April.

“I will also be taking line-ups on the road to play at The Valve Bar & Venue in Sydney once a month. The bands I will be touring with will be young Brisbane bands,” she says.

“I saw a need for a structured system for young musicians to enter the music world and have their music heard. I’m passionate about my music and my bands and I’m looking forward to giving Brisbane a great live music experience; pulling it up from the underground and out there for all to see and feel”.

An incredible initiative, get yourselves ready for a healthy dose of new metal music.
