Looking for a new watering hole to kick off the weekend? Perfect for a date night, night out with mates or after-work drinks, Waterslide Bar at Melbourne’s Southgate is the hottest new creation on the cocktail scene. With plenty of room inside plus an unusually large balcony placing you right above the water and action of Southbank, Waterslide is your one-stop-shop night out.
The spacious but welcoming space is the work of Nicholas Travers and Bianca Baldi of Techne Architecture and Design, who were also the brains behind the interiors of iconic Melbourne venues Movida, Jimmy Grants and Prahran Hotel.
The cocktail list is a major game changer for Southbank. With inventive flavours to the likes of earl grey, pho spices and Persian fairy floss incorporated into their signature cocktail menu, Waterslide is sure to be a massive hit with specialty cocktail fanatics and foodies alike. Don’t worry if cocktails aren’t your thing, though, the venue features a large beer list, vast wine list (particularly for red lovers) and an impressive selection of whisk(e)ys.
Bar manager and industry veteran Tim Wastell has taken on Waterslide after spending a year with the team at world-renowned Rockpool Bar & Grill in Sydney. Wastell was also named Australian Bartender of the Year in 2009 while at Melbourne’s Blue Diamond. Wastell was joined by Black Pearl’s Fred Siggins in creating the fierce cocktail menu.
The creativity doesn’t stop with Wastell and Siggins – the bartenders at Waterslide have all proved to be friendly, informative and inventive without the pretention that often comes as a side deal.
Bringing a new level of style and class to Melbourne’s Southgate, Waterslide Bar is your destination for this weekend and beyond.
