Willkommen zu Oktoberfest!

Ladies and gentlemen of Brisbane, get your dirndls and lederhosen, and prepare your liver for an epic weekend – Oktoberfest has arrived!
Bratwurst, oversized pretzels, traditional music, and plenty of delicious German beer are what this celebration is all about.
As someone who was fortunate enough to attend the real Oktoberfest in Munich last year, I could not be more excited at the prospect of reliving the experience right here in Brisbane.
My memories of Oktoberfest involve drinking copious amounts of beer, eating my weight in meat and pretzels, clinking steins with anyone and everyone, and singing “Ein Prosit” at least 50 times.
Over two weekends in October, the RNA Showgrounds will be transformed into a mini Deutschland.
Attendees will have the chance to sample the finest German food, enjoy superbly hand-crafted beers, and immerse themselves in the Bavarian culture and traditions.
There really is something for everyone at Oktoberfest, including the Miss Oktoberfest Competition, traditional dancing, yodelling, Bavarian bands and music, and the Bavarian Strongman Competition (basically just men in lederhosen lifting kegs and eating donuts to see whose the manliest).
For those of you who aren’t huge beer enthusiasts, don’t fret! Once you arrive, you will be immediately swept up in the excitement and atmosphere, and will be clinking steins with your fellow drinking buddies before you know it.
When:Â 11-13th and 18-20th October
Where: RNA Showgrounds
How Much:Â $15-22
Ages:Â Everyone! (Over 18 to drink, of course)
And if you’re still wondering whether or not to go… here’s a little snap of me (the one in the middle) in Munich last year, look how happy I am!
