Winners Announced: Levi's Music Relief Fund
The recent COVID-19 restrictions have meant that many artists are suffering from a loss of work and, as a result, income. Within the music industry it is unknown when concerts and festivals will be up and running again, meaning musicians are facing a difficult path ahead.
The Levi’s Music Relief Fund is a collaboration between Qmusic (founder of BIGSOUND) and Levi’s. The fund provides artists with a cash prize of $4,500 and various training programs for the further development of their career. This year the fund was redesigned to benefit artists during the COVID-19 restrictions and to allow for New Zealand applicants also.
This is the music fund’s fourth year and the first five winners for 2020 have been announced, including the first New Zealand applicants to receive the prize.
Jaguar Jonze (QLD) , The Beths (NZ) , Haiku Hands (NSW) , Tkay Maidza (SA) and Miiesha (QLD).
The fund is currently the largest single music prize that can be awarded in Australasia and is awarded to artists who have used their BIGSOUND experience to successfully push ahead with their music careers.
Previous winners of the prize include G Flip, Stella Donnelly, Alex Lahey, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Hatchie.
Applications are now open for the final round of awards and they will close at 11.59pm on Sunday, 5 July. visit the page here to find out more.
