Winter Cocktails at The Laneway

Tucked away above a corner of Spencer Lane amongst the bustle of the city lies The Laneway, a small and intimate bar buzzing with a refreshed energy as the launch of their new winter cocktail and bar menu begins.
The hidden gem belongs to the prestigious Urbane group and boasts a sophisticated drinks menu. Not to mention the food menu could well be one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets.
Sprucing up their cocktail menu for the wintery nights The Laneway offers classic carbonated cocktails such as the Hemingway Daiquiri of Havana club white rum, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, lime and grapefruit juice. There is also the choice of barrel aged cocktails like ‘Lady Killer’ a mix of Bombay Saphire gin, St Germaine, Dubbonet aged for 4 months in oak and served straight up with rhubarb bitters and orange oils. See what I mean? This place is Fancy. I mean some cocktails are served on a bed of moss or over a bitter infused ice sphere, complete with an ice cracking device.
There are contemporary cocktails with a favourite being the Steve-o’s Tuxedo; Beefeater gin shaken with egg whites, lemon juice, sugar and orange bitters served straight up with an orange twists. This drink was created by Steven Schneider from Employee’s Only NYC who was sick and tired of making White Lady’s. He decided to twist a classic saying “Alongside a beautiful lady should be a handsome man in a tuxâ€.
The best part is there are 7 cocktails available during Happy Hour! With the likes of a classic Tom Collins or Buffalo Trace Old Fashion, happy hour at The Laneway will certainly make you smile. They also boasts an eclectic range of wines, ciders, boutique beers and rums and tequila with experienced bartenders, you are sure to find just what you are after.
The food is equally appealing with bar snacks like fried calamari, jamon croquettes and the best chicken liver parfait on brioche I have ever had. There is even burgers! From a bungalow pork with chipotle, slaw and apple salad to a chicken schnitzel of veggie burger served with a beetroot relish.
So come along to one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets and hide away in an intimate setting with good food, great drinks and perfect company.
